Certain applications may require the use of a hub-centric spacer up front, to clear the strut tube. Customers with E46's did not need any spacer up front when used with 245, and even some 255 street tires. A 5 or 10mm spacer may be required for extra wide r-compound setups or some high performance summer tires. 5-10mm spacers are recommended for the E36 depending on the tire used, although some customers required no spacers at all.  Some E36 Customers running AST 5000 series suspensions have commented that a 15mm spacer may be required up front.

Suspension components, camber, ride height, and tire size all effect fitment.  It's also common for E36 owners to roll their rear fenders when running a 9" wheel for added clearance.
