The guys over at F.A.S.T. Auto Racing in New York have been tearing it up this season in the Pirelli Trans-Am SGT class. Starting the year with a brand new build has meant facing a few challenges along the way, but nothing too big for Adrian and the crew to overcome.
Beginning with a road going 2017 GT350R, they quickly stripped it down to the bare chassis in preparation for this epic build. The 5.2 Voodoo and TR-3160 trans were pulled and replaced with an in-house built 5.2 mated to a Tremec T56 Magnum XL. While out for the overhaul, the engine and trans were fitted with external coolers and a Dailey 5 Stage dry sump was added for additional protection.
Essex/AP Racing calipers, Penske coilovers, APR wing, and a front splitter straight off the FP350S race car round out the suspension and aero bits. To top the build us, Adrian contacted us for a set of 18×11” ET52 EC-7 wheels in Race Silver, wrapped in 305/680-18 Pirelli slicks. 25mm front spacers with Ford Performance hubs front and rear lock everything in for a killer rotatable setup.
The SGT season finale at COTA was full of mixed emotions. They battled intermittent electrical issues all day, but Adrian was able to fight his way to a 3rd place finish, pretty impressive for a wounded machine in a strong Trans Am field. We wish them the best as they prepare for the 2020 season, good luck from everyone here at APEX Race Parts!
